About the visit of Betty Nakajigo and Paul Kimbugwe to Munich in April

During the two-week visit of the chairwoman of the Südverein Uganda there were many beautiful experiences, important exchange of insights and there was a gain for mutual understanding.
Paul, Betty's brother, was able to travel to Germany for the first time. Being very interested in our way of life, he was often overwhelmed by the collected impressions.
In addition to many discussions about the future of the projects, better organization and necessary restructuring measures, the prepared official supporting program was very varied and exciting:

- Bus city tour followed by a guided tour of the Allianz Arena (both are die-hard Bayern fans!)
- Chiemsee boat tour with a visit to both castles, Frauenchiemsee and Herrenchiemsee, incl. castle tour
- Combined sewage routing at the Munich city drainage system "Going underground", with the sewage station Akademiestraße, the rainwater outlet port in Ungererstraße and rainwater overflow basin in the Schenkendorfstraße with 24! participants
- BMW factory tour with exciting, guided tour and 20 participants
- Information evening for interested parties with almost 40 participants and a Presentation "Flashback: 24 years of support and 15 years of Association work for children and people in Uganda"
Our visitors were also enthusiastic about other "highlights", such as
- A visit to Europe's largest recycling centre – Am Mühlanger – recover and recycle recyclable materials
- A visit to Munich's Viktualienmarkt and the English Garden with Eisbach wave and Chinese Tower
- A trip to the Weillach mill in Thalhausen (near Aichach)
- Information about the project "Bottle Collecting" at the Vocational School of Electrical Engineering (Paul was very surprised by the equipment of the classrooms)
- A small birthday party with a surprise, where they met a girlfriend from Uganda or the many invitations of friends

The weather caused the two of them great difficulties: At 15 degrees it two jackets were usually needed! This was made up for by the wonderful culinary experiences: Paul was very happy with his breakfast: bread with liverwurst and Nutella!
The evening before their flight home, Benedikt Ovidi interviewed them about their work in Uganda, their future prospects, wishes and expectations. The summary of the interview will be sent in a separate newsletter.
Best regards
Renate and team
